Bruce Mitchell (1951 – 54)

The funeral of Bruce Mitchell was held on 21st November 2017 at Gloucester Cathedral with some local Old Cryptians attending.  Bruce was a pupil at King’s School before going on to the Crypt in 1951.  He obtained a place at St Catherine’s Society (Oxford University) to read Maths but later changed to Modern History.  He became a teacher at The King’s School in 1959 and stayed until 1967.

He had a great love of music and was a Gloucester Cathedral chorister from 1942 to 1949, maintaining his association with the Cathedral for much of his life.

In Gloucester he served as a local councillor and subsequently took up positions with the National Association of Youth Clubs and GLOSCAT.  He also worked with numerous local and national charities.
