It is with sadness that we report the death, on 9th November, of R.S. (Bob) George. Bob taught at the Crypt School from 1948 – 52. As yet there are no details of the funeral arrangements.
We regret to inform OCC Members and former Cryptians of the death of Jim Thompson who became a pupil of the Crypt School in 1955. A private funeral will be held next week. A memorial service in Gloucester cathedral is planned – details to be announced.
Jim was an active member of OCC whilst teaching at the Crypt and at King’s School. He was a fine hockey player and played many games for Wales.
In November 2013, ‘MACBETH’ will return to The Crypt School. During rehearsals for this new production a copy of the ‘MACBETH’ brochure from 1963 was found – and we would like to invite as many as possible of the original cast back to the School to see the performance! (more…)
Old Cryptians are welcome to attend one or both of the Remembrance Day Services, these being the Cenotaph Service in London on Sunday, 10th November (please contact John Hughes) and the School Service on Monday, 11th November (please contact Sue Wales at the School).

Howard Allen, a past President and Secretary, and who has a long association with the Club is compiling a book in anticipation of the 475th anniversary of the Crypt School in 2014. He would very much like to hear from anyone who has photographs (particularly the modern era) to contribute to this publication.
We have learned of the death of Brian Showell on Sunday 4th November, 2012 in Brisbane. Brian had lived in Australia since the early 1960s. A message of condolence on behalf of the President and Club has been sent to Anne Showell and the family.
We have learned that Michael Owner passed away on 29th August 2012. Further detail will be posted as it becomes available.
On 12 August John (H.J.) Skinner died peacefully at his home in Worthing.
John was on the staff of the school between 1952 and 1988. He became Head of the History Department and was subsequently appointed a Deputy Headship. He also coached rugby and cricket. As Charles Lepper wrote “John was dedicated for 36 years to the well-being of The Crypt.”
The funeral service took place on 21st August at Brighton Crematorium.
