850 mile Bike Ride for the Bursary Fund

Richard Briggs (President 2015-2016) has just completed a 2 week tour of Scotland to raise money for the Old Cryptians Centenary Bursary Fund 2001.  The aim was to complete the Land’s End to John o’ Groats ride, of which the first part (to Berwick-upon-Tweed) was cycled last September, and to continue on a loop around the north and west coasts at a slightly (!) gentler pace.  The extended story, with photos, can be found at

Milestone for the Discover DeCrypt Project

The online and paper versions of the bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) were submitted on 19th August 2016.  The bid is for substantial funding of both St. Mary de Crypt Church and the adjoining Tudor Schoolroom in Southgate Street (the first location of the Crypt School).  This is an exciting milestone after many months of hard work by the dedicated team.  Further details at

Cryptians Parade and March in London

The Cenotaph Service in Whitehall, followed by the March to Horseguards, is a little over 2 months away on Sunday, 13th November.  Representatives from the Crypt School (both Old and Young Cryptians) have the honour to be invited to this public event every year.  If you have not taken part, it is an amazing and very moving experience.  Places are still available, so please contact Nino Pelopida for details:

Old Cryptians and Founders’ Day

SAVE THE DATE!  Monday 27th June will be a great day in the School and the Old Cryptians’ Calendar.  In the morning Bob Timms, our incoming President, will host the Annual Golf Competition at Rodway Hill, Highnam, with Crypt boys competing with Old Cryptians for the impressive Tony Beard Cup.  The traditional Cathedral Service will take place in the early evening and this will be followed by a Supper in the historic Parliament Rooms where Richard Briggs, after a year of service, makes way for Bob Timms, a long standing member of the Old Cryptians Club Committee.  Look out for the invitation and acceptance forms which will be emailed, posted and displayed on this site.

AGM 2016 – Reminder

The AGM of the Old Cryptians’ Club will be held at Gloucester Rugby, Kingsholm tomorrow, 12th March beginning at 6.45 p.m.  The relevant papers have been posted on this site at Activities/General – 2016 Programme – AGM 2016.

Invitations to this year’s function on Saturday, 12th March have been sent out to all Old Cryptians on our membership list.  For more information, and to download the forms, please look in the Events Diary on this site.  We welcome everyone with past or present connections to the Crypt School, not just members of the Old Cryptians Club.

Cenotaph Parade

A group of Old Cryptians together with five Crypt pupils from Gloucester travelled to London on Sunday to take part in the Nation’s Act of Remembrance – the Parade at the Cenotaph followed by the March to Horseguards Parade.  To be included is a very great honour for the School and the Old Cryptians’ Club.  A full report will appear in the Cryptian.
