Office Of President 2009
For Clarification :
At the AGM of the OCC on 21ST March 2009 John Goodridge was elected President for 2009/2010. John will succeed Paul James-President-2008/2009.
It has been the practice of the Club for the elected President to take up office after his installation at the handing over ceremony at the Founders’ Day Supper in July. This year, this will take place on the evening of Monday 13 July 2009.
It is the expectation and understanding of Paul James and John Goodridge that Paul will take the chair at the EGM called by the committee of the OCC on 11 May 2009. The business of the meeting will be to receive the committee’s proposals on revisions to the current constitution of the Club.
The EGM was held on 11 May 2009 in the splendid new John and Joan Cooke Centre at the Crypt School.
The recommendations of the committee of the OCC for the adoption of the new constitution were approved.
The Minutes of this meeting will appear in the short term on the website and all members will be notified by the secretary.
Howard Allen. Hon Sec 2008/2009.

James Roose-Evans (1937 – 44)
To mark the 50th anniversary of the Hampstead Theatre and the 35th anniversary of the Bleddfa Centre for the Creative Spirit, founder James Roose-Evans shares his lessons from a creative life.
In these dangerous times, it is more important than ever that we try to understand the synthesis of chaos and order, freedom and discipline, intuition and ritual. And nobody has greater insight into these things than James Roose-Evans, who, alone amongst my teachers, opened the door to the nature of creativity for me at the beginning of my working life (Mike Leigh).
This Constitution was agreed at the 2009 EGM but it was also agreed that the Committee should revisit the text in the light of the numerous suggestions aimed at clarifying, improving and correcting what was there. Your Committee therefore has considered the points which were raised, including further suggestions sent to the Secretary, and produced a set of proposals which we think are not contentious but will require to be submitted to an AGM for approval. That approval will require a two- thirds majority of 40% of the membership voting at the meeting or by proxy. However, we know from direct experience the impracticability of debating constitutional detail at an AGM but you also made it clear that you would want wider consultation on content beforehand.
