George Hopkins (1941 – 48)

We have learned that George Hopkins died on 1 March 2017.  He had been in care and not well for a period of time.

At the Crypt he was House Captain of Brown House and the 1st XV Captain 1947/48.  He also played for 1st XI cricket and hockey teams.  He was gifted at tennis and played in seniors’ tournaments for Devon.

George was a late entrant to the teaching profession and a graduate of the Open University.

Howard Allen observed “In every way he exemplified the best in an Old Cryptian – all energy and compassion.”  Howard will be preparing a full obituary which will appear in The Cryptian later this year.
