Michael Clift (1939 – 46)

The recent death of Dr Michael Clift, who in latter years lived in Longlevens and Hatherley Grange Nursing Home, has been reported; his funeral has taken place.  Michael, a scholarship boy, attended the Crypt School between 1939 and 1946.  After Medical training he spent 13 years as the surgeon on Ocean liners and cruise ships. In 1970 he took up General Practice in Cheltenham and is remembered for doing a lot of good in the community.  His thirst for knowledge is also recalled  by his nephew.  He brings to mind countless yellow Teach Yourself books ranging from Hindi to Islam, Marquetry to Sewing  and Pitmans Shorthand.  With his profession and many interests Michael clearly led a very full life.
